We rent exotic and luxury vehicles in the Greater Montréal area and run the louelavie.com website, the online booking, the customer portal and the Loue La Vie mobile app. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights.

Contact and account information: first and last name, email address, phone number, and your portal or app login.
Rental information: date of birth, driver's licence number and expiry, address, insurance details, and photographs or scans of your driver's licence and, when required, another piece of ID. We verify these to confirm identity and eligibility to rent.
Booking and payment information: reservations, rentals, deposits, invoices and payments. Card payments are processed by Square; we do not store full card numbers.
Vehicle location and driving data: our vehicles carry a GPS telematics device (Bouncie) that records the vehicle's location, trips, mileage and alerts, including while it is rented to you.
Vehicle condition: photographs of the vehicle at pick-up and return, and damage reports.
Signatures: your signature on the rental agreement.
Messages: emails, text messages and messages you send through the website chat or the portal.
Delivery information: a delivery or pick-up address when you ask for delivery.
Referral information: your referral code, the people you refer, and account credit.
Device and website information: a push-notification token if you enable notifications in the app, and website usage information collected by analytics cookies (see "Cookies and analytics").
To confirm your identity and eligibility, and to create and manage your account, reservations and rentals.
To process deposits, payments, refunds and charges under the rental agreement (fuel, mileage, tolls, damage, late return).
To protect our vehicles and the people who use them: vehicle location and driving data are used for theft recovery, roadside assistance, mileage and fuel billing, and to investigate incidents, damage and traffic or parking tickets.
To communicate with you about your bookings — confirmations, reminders, contracts and receipts — by email, text message and, if you opt in, push notifications.
To answer your questions, including through the website chat.
To run the referral programme and apply discounts and credit.
To understand how the website is used and improve it.
To meet our legal, accounting, tax and insurance obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with service providers that work for us: Supabase (secure database and file storage), Vercel (website hosting and analytics), Square (payments), Twilio (text messages), Resend (email), Bouncie (vehicle GPS telematics), Anthropic (processing of website chat messages), Google (website analytics) and Apple (push notifications).
We may also share information with our insurers, with authorities when the law requires it (for example police, the SAAQ or a court), and with the issuer of a ticket or toll incurred during your rental.
Some of our providers store or process information outside Québec, mainly in the United States. Before relying on a provider we assess whether it protects personal information adequately, and our agreements require it to keep your information confidential and use it only to provide its service to us.
louelavie.com uses cookies to remember your language and, through Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics, to measure how the site is used. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works without analytics cookies.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Rental, payment and accounting records are kept for at least six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as tax law requires. Licence and ID images, vehicle photographs and location data are kept for as long as needed to manage your rentals and any claim, incident or dispute connected to them, then deleted or anonymized.
You can delete your account at any time from the app: open Account and tap "Delete my account". This permanently removes your login — you will be signed out and can no longer sign in with that account. You can also ask us to delete your account by email.
Because we are a vehicle rental business, rental and transaction records associated with your account (reservations, rentals, payments, contracts) are retained as required for legal, accounting, insurance and liability purposes. Retained records are kept solely for those obligations.
You may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to withdraw your consent to a use of it, to have it deleted or no longer disseminated when the law allows, and to receive computerized information you gave us in a structured, commonly used format. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we answer within 30 days.
To make a request, contact the person in charge above. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
Your information is stored on secured, access-controlled systems. Staff access is limited by role to what each person needs for their work. If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the people concerned, and we keep a register of incidents.
Our services are intended for adults who meet our minimum rental age. The website, portal and app are not directed to children.
We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
